Jayla
BIO: Jayla was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. This 5’1 Laotian cutie launched her modeling career in 2005 when she was discovered at a DUB show in St. Louis. Her drive and motivation has opened many doors to her career as a model and actress. She has graced the cover of online and hair magazines, music videos, and an upcoming reality TV show. She also will be featured in the movie starring Katherine Heigl called Life as we know it. Jayla would like to eventually get into hosting and practice perfecting her acting career.
Too Tall: Jayla, tell me: What’s Your Strive(s)?
Jayla: My strive comes from wanting to be a blessing to my parents so they don’t have work anymore.
Too Tall: Where are you from?
Jayla: I am from Portland, Oregon the beautiful city of roses.
Too Tall: How did you get started?
Jayla: I’ve always wanted to be a model but didn’t know how to get started until I was discovered by my mangers in ’05. Since then, they have helped me get to where I’m at today.
Too Tall: What steps are you taking to achieve your goals?
Jayla: The first step I took was getting my portfolio together and going to the castings that took place in the city I was living at the time. From there everything just fell into place by me networking with the right people.
Too Tall: With everybody trying to make it into the entertainment business, what do you do to separate yourself from the crowd?
Jayla: My personality as a Gemini definitely gives out a unique vibe. I know when to put my business face on and when I can be my silly, goofy self that everyone around me can’t get enough of. Also, my passion to be successful in this industry separates me from the crowd because I am determined and driven to do whatever it takes to get to the top.
Too Tall: What are you currently working on?
Jayla: I am currently working on a reality TV Show and am trying to get into Hosting.
Too Tall: Do you feel that your art form is a way to express yourself, or a way of life?
Jayla: Yes, modeling is definitely a form of art to express myself. Modeling gives you the ability to dress up in whatever you feel like being that day. One shoot I can be an innocent school girl and the next shoot I can be the sexy diva that I am.
Too Tall: What’s your resume?
Jayla: My presence has graced the pages of an online men magazine, flyers for various club promotions, hair magazines, music videos, fashion shows and an upcoming reality TV Show.
Too Tall: Do you have a recording deal, or are you currently shopping around?
Jayla: No I don’t have a contract and I’m not really looking for one. If a great opportunity presents itself to me then I might have to reconsider.
Too Tall: What’s your opinion of the current entertainment scene?
Jayla: In my opinion, I think the current entertainment scene is tainted & lacking talent. Nowadays anyone can make it into the limelight and get their 15 seconds of fame thanks to shows like Bad Girls Club or For the Love of Ray J.
Too Tall: What suggestions do you have for other aspiring strivers?
Jayla: Shoot for the moon because even if you fall, you will be somewhere amongst the stars.
Too Tall: Any other upcoming projects you’d like to mention?
Jayla: I am currently getting ready for a big fashion show in Atlanta and in an upcoming reality TV Show.
