I picked up a couple of CD’s this weekend at FYE. Surprisingly an all Chicago star-studded purchase. Among them were Twista: Category F5, Kanye West: 808s & HEARTBREAK, and Trey Songz: Ready. Of course Kanye’s album has been out for a while, Trey Songz album has been buzzing on the net for the last few weeks, but I was particularly anticipating the Twista album myself. Once I got to my ride, I decided I’d find out what all the “Trey Songz” hype was about.

Wow! Panty Droppa, really? Out the gate with that huh Trey? This song literally had the lady parked next to me touching herself. I think if I would’ve stayed any longer, she probably would have tried to have her way with me in the parking lot. Ok, enough jokes. This CD literally has no bad songs. I’ve never actually had the pleasure of saying that about any artist. Also, much like the first track implies, it’s an album to make babies to. Men, get off your high horses, and buy this album. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you’re entertaining your lady friends. Women… well, uh… try to make it to work on time. Staying at home pleasuring yourselfs might sound like a good idea, but you got bills to pay.

The thing that really impresses me most is Trey’s ability to swing between different styles and remain genuine. He really has captured the essence of falling in love, making love, and being in love with this album. Particular standouts are, wow it’s hard to single out songs with so many goods ones. How about I try this from a different approach.

Panty Droppa: Shows Trey’s mood setting ability
Ready to Make Luv: Shows Trey’s vocal range
Black Roses: Shows that Trey can’t be categorized as just another R&B artists

The entire album is filled with hit after hit, but no song stands out like “Successful”. This song manages to capture everything the album is attempting to convey. Sexuality, Sensitivity, Sorrow, Success, and my personal favorite Strive. Trey Songz has completely smashed this effort out of the park and should be given his props.

What’s Your Strive gives Trey Songz: Ready 5 out of 5 stars

Much success Trey, keep striving!
